I've seen a fair few posts on Barbelith recently about people who have, in the past or currently are, involved in producing small press comics or fanzines. I used to be involved, for my sins, in small press publishing and I wondered who else who posts here is / was involved in Small press and what titles you were / are involved in.
I used to produce a comic called Neoplasm ( 1993 ) the cover of which should be shown below. It did ok, got a couple of reasonable reviews in Comic Collector and Zum ( actually I never saw the review in Zum but I know it got one as its on their website ) and I got some fairly good reactions to it. Fantastic Store in Brighton even gave it as part of their window display ( cheers steve ). Even though it sold less that 100 copies I managed somehow, god know how, to get letters from as far away as Spain and France from people who had read it. I also did some artwork for Angels of Deception ( a trashy goth horror comic a friend of mine wrote ). I've also done stuff for Brown Action ( if it ever comes out ).

Anyone else done anything I'd love to know.

i really liked coda! and a mate has offered to typeset my stories so i can go ahead with my short story collection. need to work out what to do about copyright tho, as a couple are on the brink of being published (barring disasters, which are always likely in the world of small press mags). so hopefully i will be able to show off my own mag in the not too distant future.

warrington - your mag looks like a black flag album cover. and that's a compliment, by the way.

My recent comic was about as Small Press as you can possibly get, seeing as I only bothered making 23 copies of it, and it's never actually been near a 'press' in it's life..

but it's 8 or so readers seemed to like it.

I've done six issues of a mini-comic with plans for more. Anyone interested in a trade or freebies?

if you kids are in london, then pop along to this. it's not so much a manga happening as an excuse for small-press peeps to get together. me and a couple of others are going, before moving off to the cherrymeet.

i love small-press stuff. mini-comics ROCK.

To Clive and Rizla:

To rpove that cheep, lo-fi comics are cool, I just lent a friend of mine copies of CODA, "The Bookstore Cowboys In A MONTAGE OF HECK" and "Burn Prom Queen", as well as the Bristol 2001 GREEn anthology, which has things by both of you in.

He seems to like them, well done.

Yep, the Rizla zine rules with tightly clenched fists (in case you haven't bothered looking, Riz, I sent you a private message about it and the Compilation Tape of the Gods).

If anyone wants to help me finish Brown Action, I'm looking for anything - anything! - that will fill it up. Well, I say anything, I'm mostly interested in comic strips, of the stoopid variety. Badly drawn is GOOD, though goodly drawn isn't bad. PM me please, if you're willing.

House of Irony New Year's Comics.

My former roommates and I made four jam comics related to the New Year to give out at our end of the year bash. We left the pages on the living room table, and anyone could contribute, hence the shaky quality. The only rule was that no one could do more than one panel a page, and no one could have two panels side by side. I was looking over them in preparation for my 24 hour comicathon, and, being a Thursday night, I chose scanning the fuckers over watching tv.

Drawing comics at a New Years Eve party?

What kind of brilliant alternative world do you live in, Moriarty?

I think it's brilliant that not only did they *survive* but they're actually quite good and neither pornographic nor drunkenly incoherent..

respect to your friends!
