Anyone read this? It's quite amusing, though I'd swear Kevin Smith is poking fun at the Underground in the second chapter's origin of "Newsgroup." Or perhaps I'm just paranoid.

Um, would you mind elaborating on that?

Y'know, of further consideration, it's the Warren Ellis Forum he's knocking. The newsgroup in the aforementioned origin story is called We're Easily Fooled.com. Dedicated to a comic called "Fear and Loathing in a Quasi-Futuristic City".

The bit that had me thinking was a line from this website saying "We are but soldiers in his war on mediocrity." On consideration, I probably should have seen that sooner.

That's pretty funny.

I don't see how that 'we're but soldiers...' line relates to Barbelith in any way grounded in reality... it's a fairly accurate skewering of WEF, though.

Is Barbelith really considered much of a force in the comics world, enough to be satirized in a comic? Do people on the outside really consider this to be a comics website...the comics forum is a fairly small niche here, and not really what this place is about *at all*....

Wouldn't that be weird if it turned out that all sorts of people involved in the comics industry ritualy visited Barbelith?

Has this shipped, then ?

My shop of choice had it listed as forthcoming around Xmas, then it never showed, and I assumed it was suffering from the delay that all too many titles do... or is it something to do with being in the UK ?

Or maybe I should just accept the very real possibility that I just missed it...

Way to go Kevin Smith. You know, I picked up the first 8 issues of Green Arrow, despite not liking it from issue 1, cause Kevin Smith is just so fucking right on it hurts.

Anyone want to buy them? I think they're shit. Make me an offer!

Why is that shocking? It's Green fucking Arrow! Why would anyone pick up a Green Arrow comic thinking that it could possibly be good? The character can barely stand up as a SUPPORTING character in Justice League of America... the character has always been lifeless, the concept very weak: a guy fights crime with archery. No wait --- trick arrows!

Come on! Green Arrow, Aquaman, Wonder Woman...these characters are famous because they were being published during the biggest boom time the industry ever had, not because they are great characters.

I think the 'Lith was just on my mind as I was reading it.

You mean there are other message boards? My God! The time I've wasted here.....
