Well apart from Transmetropolitan the only two things I'm picking up at the moment are Fray by Joss Wheldon, can't remember the artist and Grip by Gilbert Hernandez.

Fray = Buffy 2090, its a lot of fun basic story follows Ms Fray an Orphan living in the downbelow streets of a future city as she discovers theres more to life than being the best thief in the city. She has a destiny and all that.

Its great, lots of running and falling off high rooftops, lasers, flying cars, people not noticing demons because of the mutants, the Watchers Council being a bit strange after 200 years of fanticism and other cool stuff. The arts quite cool as well, very bright and frenetic.

In other news, Grip, well 3 issues into a 5 issue story and I'm barely starting to get a grip on it. Some serious weirdness going on here and the arts brilliant, more skin changing weirdness, relgious cults, secret labs, telepathic mutant types and micheal jackson?

Will anything actually be explained in the end? To be honest I don't really care, I'm going to have to pick up some more of Mr Hernandez's stuff once this is over I think.

I imagine anyone reading my constant postings to this forum would know what I regularly purchase... the only comics that come out frequently enough to fit this description (it's hard to count stuff by Clowes, Tomine, Abel, Ware, Dorkin, etc when they come out twice a year at best) that I buy would be mainstream stuff like The Authority, New X-Men, Ultimate X-Men, X-Force, and Uncanny X-Men (which I buy out of a perverse curiosity with its trainwreck nature...). I don't buy anything from Vertigo, DC, or Image because they simply do not publish anything even remotely of interest to me. Those Crossgen books look terrible, I won't even thumb through them on the rack...it's like the worst of mainstream DCU combined with Dungeons & Dragons...ugh!

I don't buy any Alan Moore ABC stuff because I missed that train when it left the station, and I don't have the cash to catch myself up, so I'll just wait til later on, cos it's got going out of print or anything.

I'm planning on getting that one Oni comic that Flyboy brought up a couple weeks ago...can't recall the title of it, though.

If I've got a few spare dollars, I occasionally pick up something that catches my eye, usually it's something small press. Other times, it's something like that last issue of Spider-Man because I liked the John Romita Jr. art so much....

been very quiet comic wise lately...theres really not much decent stuff out there at the moment is there??

apart from the x-men - x-force and the last clowes and ware jobs that has been it for a month or so...

apart from Grip which is exellent as al has pointed out...it's a new velvet glove cast in iron...it'll look good when it's collected...damm fine coffee

apart from that the only wonderful thing i've read recently is an alan moore comic a friend brought back from barcelona for me which had both sleaze and flyboy salivating at the mouth when i showed it them last week...some of moores short stories drawn by spanish artists...unfortunatly it's in spanish so i'm not getting the most from it...great pics though..

(maybe should've got pacha to translate that night if she could)

Still giving Hunter: Age of Magic a shot, although I think I'm losing interest. I just recently got into Marvel Boy.

Out of curiosity, has anyone read a mini-series backwards? I've found it's just as enjoyable. As long as it's a once every now and again deal, and you've got the right writer.

I got more out of Dave McKean's CAGES when I read it backwards in one sitting than reading it frontwards as it came out.

I read the Invisibles mostly out of order, and when I went through it all in its proper order recently, I didn't notice much of a difference.
