that really is astonishingly good art.

You think? I think it's pretty good, but it's pretty mundane when you compare it to Frank's best work...

And Frank's best work is....?

Zoom.

I would say, that to date, and given that I haven't seen his earliest work, that it's the entire Flex Mentallo series, NXM 121, and certain pages from E Is For Extinction.

Flex.

No doubts about it.

Four full-Quitely-art issues.

Not to mention Grant's under-drugs writing.

If those are the 'new' Imperial Guards, while they do fit in with the general Shi-ar bug theme, they do look a bit shit...

As far as I know, Grant's guard are supposed to be a pretty thinly veiled piss-take of the costumed hero crew. So, there you have it.

Well, the Imperial Guard has always been a mirror version of the Legion of Super Heroes, and Grant's already stated that his Imperial Guard will keep in that tradition...

Looking at those characters, and drawing upon my young teen obsession with the Legion, I really can't figure out exactly which Legionnaires those are supposed to be... I guess I'll need dialogue/more pages... I think that guy with the helmet might be Brainiac 5...the big guy with the red goggles might be Ultraboy...

God, I would be soooooo pleased to see him do a Matter Eater Lad character!

The colour a detail of quitely really *needs* the high quality paper the authority had... NXMEN really does not do him justice...

Haus about we all give each other a big lovely huggle?

Quitely's best work?

Shimura. No question.

What is Shimura?

BTW, is someone nice enough to provide
a list of Quitely's work?

Shimura was a wonderful three - part story that appeared in Judge Dredd the Megazine in .... 1994? Starring Judge Dredd's Japanese counterparts. This and Missionary Man (a hardcore preachin' vigilante operating in the radioactive wastelands outside Mega - City One), in the same comic about the same time, were the first exposures I had to his work. Not only did they have the thrill of discovering the best comic artist seen for a looooong time, they were fully painted too! Personally I preferred his stuff on MM, his sense of scale and grandeur seemed to fit those bleak towering mesas perfectly.
