Conjunctive to my suggestion regarding rayographs, anyone else have any ideas for diverse mediums for comic illustration?

Just wondering, that's all.

I'm currently working on my 128 page graphic novel, done entirely on the Spirograph. It's about the friendship between two swirly circular aliens. And their parents.

Clipart.
I think it's been done before though, on a gag strip somewhere.
And plagiarism/ detournement. You take a sufficiently long running comic, which you have a large collection of, and take individual panels, rearrange them, and change the speech bubbles, and turn it into a whole new text.

I was always interested by those photostip comics, despite their cheesiness. I think it could be done well but would probably have the same budget as a film.

I was similarly considering doing an entirely photographic comic, but just putting together the prototype was very, very difficult, and to do one properly, it would need the budget and planning of a small film, or a stage production.

I really would like to do one in the future, but right now, it's not even remotely practical.

So back to the pencils for me...

Tom Tomorrow uses a whole load of clip art, especially noticable in his earliest strips.

You might also be interested in Five Card Nancy. And here's some particularly nasty superhero detournements. I also saw one about Beetle Bailey and the War on Terrorism once.

Clip art strips:
Get Your War On, by the creator of the occasionally seen My New Fighting Technique Is Unstoppable. The more recent pages have been retitled Get Your Enr On, for obvious reasons.

Im currently working on a photo version of a comic Ive been working on and off again on (still just text/script form) since college.

Its called Wilson's Spare Eyeball. Its not as difficult or expensive as it could have been since I have a digital camera so there's obviously no film or developing cost and most of my sets and characters are the streets and apppartments of friends around town. Then I just run the photos through photoshop to give them a moire hand drawn feel.
