X-Force to be re-titled, relaunched?

I don't think this is such a good idea, since the title is established now...this would have been the smart thing to do BEFORE Milligan/Allred took over, for sure...

Oooh, and in the same article Rob "jackass" Liefeld has this to say: "X-Force has been sick for a long time and this latest team is decent but very niche oriented. Milligan is a great writer but most people are turned off by Allred's stale artwork."

Yeah, stale artwork. Sure.

You might well be jumping the gun a bot here Flux - the story is still just a rumour... nothing confirmed at the moment. But besides that what does it matter if there is a title change. Its not like the title is being read by die hard fans of the old x-force.

I think it's a bad call to switch titles now, cos it'll just be confusing for casual readers, don't you think?

It's hard enough to explain to a normal person why the series starts at 116 as it is...

Oh, and I agree with Flux. If the rumors prove true, it's to late for changing the name of X-Force. The book appeals to a certain buyer who is probably not paying attention to what Marvel is doing. They'll go into a shop, scan the shelves for a book called X-Force, not see it, and figure it didn't come out this week. It would have been a great move at the begining of the series, but then, of course, we wouldn't have the pissed off fan boys in every letter page saying how much the new book sucks.

Speaking of which, does anyone know of a book that gave so much space to negative letters on it's letter page?

No, but the letters pages in powers always have me in stitches.

Actually I don't think the averagenew x-force would give a rats arse what its call as long as milligan and allred are working on it and by now the title will have picked up all the fans of the old series it was ever going to (or failed to do so).

It strikes me that a comic that is so much about the nature of celebrity and branding naturally needs to rebrand itself. The manuvre may even get those who've heard good things to check the title out.

Yeah, I think it could be pulled off really easily as a "well, we did some market research, and we've found that people didn't like the connotations the old name X-Force had. Our key demo prefers the name The X-Statics!".

It also fits the legacy of having The New Mutants title get taken over halfway and become something very different, then have the New Mutants book cancelled, and become X-Force...
