I don't think Gambit is a bad character so much as a character whom crap writers love to write.
Gambit currently appears in X-Treme X-Men, and near as I can tell, he's somehow on the run, and still pining for Rogue. Scott Lobdell was pushing the character out of the comic, he wanted to have the guy be revealed to be an evil creep and then get kicked out and try to weasel his way back in, in spite of all of the X-Men hating him. But the editorial got in the way, the fans liked him too much.
So, he basically just does the same shit all the time: flirts with Rogue, talks in an embarassing approximation of Cajun street lingo, and acts like a badass version of Robin Hood. |
