...For he is a merciful god!

Just about the only writer who I could bear to replace Hellblazer, and who may just well surpass Brian Azzarello's trailblazing run over the last two years, has just been announced. This from All The Rage at Silverbulletcomics.com:

"Mike (Lucifer) Carey was also chatty about his upcoming stint on Hellblazer. He was much in praise of Warren Ellis' run and wanted to evoke the "Haunting" tone that Ellis explored before his "Shoot" story was cut and the writer left. Certainly giving Constantine a place amongst other magicians, as aspect that has been avoided of late, is top on his list. Damn, might have to start buying it again…"

Oh my fuck. What's so great about Brian Azarello. You can't pick up a copy of Wizard without being bombarded with 13 articles about how much of a genius he is and how he resurected "Vertigo's Flagship." This guy is over-rated.

Hellblazer hasn't been good for a loooong time. I don't even know why I still collect it. Even Ellis's shit wasn't that great.

Any potential writer should be made to read Alan Moore's Swamp Thing until they can recite it word for word. Then they can get the keys to the car.

I refuse to buy Hellblazer until Alan Moore writes it. The only issue I ever bought was #27 and it was a back issue so DC didn't get a dime from me.

Comic shop owner: "Go ahead and order a few extra Hellblazer comics. At the very least, we don't seem to have much trouble selling them."

If they want to order a few extra issues of Hellblazer every month in the hope that I'll buy one issue five years after it comes out, theyre more than welcome to. Then I can get the rest of the series for a nickel when they go out of business.

Never read more than the odd issue of Hellblazer here and there (and the randomly issued TPBs of Ennis' stuff) but am amazed that Hellblazer is still going. What do they find to tell stories about, the character seems very limited and out of his time... Actually, there's a story right there...
