It's all right. But it costs more than two quid, and it's basically just a little irony piece which doesn't always come through as irony.
Actually, this Ennis dude is a bit overrated at that. Preacher was outstanding until after book 2. From there it got more and more up itself and less likeable, in my opinion.
Nice art by the Robertson droid, but so what? Unlike Invisibles, it's just a comic. It's not important, and it hasn't got much to say.

Or have I missed something there? Respond, respond...

I find I've been having the same trouble with Garth Ennis. But really it's the same with Gaiman. They had one great idea and everything else is sort of overshadowed by it. Ennis' Punisher was entertaining, but like you say, it's just a comic. It's entertaining without being thought-provoking. The possible exception being the latest one that was really quite beautiful. Ennis' War Story comics are another matter however. These are quite good.

Ennis is a strange case. When he was in Hellblazer, he was one of the top ten writers; his run is probably the best run ever in that comic. Then he went for Preacher; things were still great. I had a blast with the first twelve or fourteen issues; the first story-arc, the NYC story and All in the Family. The next twelve issues, until the end of Crusaders, were great fun too; not as good as the ones before but still a good read. And then everything started to come down. New Orleans, Salvation, the 50 issue...it was unbearably boring and repetitive. Hitman was good at the beginning too, then it became worse and worse issue after issue (although I have to admit that it never became as bad as Preacher). Punisher and Rifle Brigade mark seem to mark the end of Ennis' brains. To read Punisher was really PAINFUL, so was Rifle Brigade. And now Fury...I didn't even buy an issue; I checked it at the comic store and I didn't like what I saw. Again the same tough-guy routine that's become tiresome, lots of swearing that don't impress anyone, lots of sex...It's obvious that Ennis has found a formula, and he is squeezing it dry. You know what the sad thing is? That he is successful with that formula, so why would he change it? And that's why I think that the Ennis from Hellblazer is long, long gone...And I miss that Garth.

I think the best work Ennis has done was Troubled Souls and it was all downhill from there...Parts of Preacher and Hellblazer i enjoyed but not much else...
