I want to shake Peter Milligan's hand... he's making clear, thoughtful politic points on nearly every page of the new issue...
He deals with black racism really well, the dynamic between Tike and Spike ("nothin' but a glorified spear chucker"), the accusations that Tike wishes that he were white, and of course that Phat wishes he were black, Edie's tv show, Guy's unease with Edie's attraction to him, the debate at the press conferance with the broadcastes spouting disclaimers about the content of what Tike, Spike, and Edie are arguing about so Marvel doesn't have to, "there's nothing like a mutant slugfest to take your mind off of the thorny topic of race!" and Lacuna's deluded postmodern analysis of their motives... and her revelation to the group...("I'm Lacuna! The one who's been doing all that CRAZY stuff to you!" "What crazy stuff?" "You remember. The fish. The funny hats.")
Excellent stuff, and Mike & Laura Allred make it all so pretty and pop. Thoughts?
