"In other lateness-related news, Quesada said that Igor Kordey will jump in and provide a few fill-in issues on New X-Men to help get that title back onto schedule. "

anyone know about this guy?

is he "straight-up?"

He's a good choice. He's a good fit for Grant, he reminds me a bit of Phil Jiminez and Chris Weston and folks like that...

Are we ever going to see another FQ issue?

Yeah, he's drawing the silent issue. I wish I knew which issues this Igor fella's drawing, cause I was really looking forward to seeing Quitely's take on the Shi'ar - he's got to draw the final Cassy arc!

AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!

SORT IT OUT MARVELCUNTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that Quitely is drawing the entirety of the Imperial arc, and that Kordey will be drawing fill-in issues following that. Van Sciver is apparently going to be drawing some other project, and probably can't commit to permanent fill-in status (which pleases me for sure...)

Yeah, it's just occured to me, if they're getting someone else to fill in order to "get them back on schedule", then it's quite likely they're talking about the issues running up to the silent ish. Afterall, the Nuff Said comics are scheduled for December.......

Hoorah and shunt!

Evenin', Thrax. New suit?

Korday's stuff looks okay; better than Van Sciver's, anyway. Quitely's the obvious money shot, though...

I flicked through the latest issue of Cable today, which Kordey drew...

Ethan Van Schiver is much better, trust me. I can't see Kordey ever coming up with something as good as, say, the Logan on the bike in the rain panel in 118.

Are you serious? I think that all of Van Sciver's pages with Wolverine, especially those ones, look so cheesy as to be a bit embarassing...

Looking at Kordey's work in Cable at the shop a few days ago, I'm happy to see him drawing New X-Men... at least he can somewhat fill Quitely's shows and not make the comic look as typical as Van Sciver does... I think part of the point of New X-Men is for it to NOT be typical superhero comics, right? Van Sciver's style seems to call attention to how far NXM and Frank Quitely is from the superhero mainstream by being so run-of-the-mill, as if to say "hey, see, this is why Frank is so amazing. because he DOESN'T draw like this fella..."

Even the panels others have praised (Logan in the rain, the flygirl being operated upon) do very little for me. Van Schiver just seems to be a poor draughtsman with, at best, a mediocre sense of composition. His panels are frequently cluttered and overly 'busy'. Don't like his stuff at all.

To be fair, I do think the guy is a decent draftsman...his ability to draw backgrounds in great detail is fairly remarkable, even if it results in cluttered images.

Van Sciver's big flaws are a) his difficulties drawing believable humans - he is terrible with facial expressions, having people look the same from panel to panel, and everyone always looks so STIFF b) his difficulty with panel to panel narrative and page layout and c) composition of both individual panels and full pages.

I think he's got a lot of potential though... at his best, he's a bit like George Perez or Neal Adams...and at his worst, he looks like he's TRYING to look like George Perez or Neal Adams. I see a bit of Bolland and Jiminez in him too...

I think that once he gets a better handle on the technical flaws and starts adding an individual touch of style to his art, he could be something really quite special...

oh, and here's the new release dates for NXM courtesy of Marvel... let's see how accurate this ends up being...

November 28 - #119 (Happy Thanksgiving!)

December 19 - #120 (Merry Christmas!)

January 2 - #121 (and a Happy New Year!)

I think he has a major problem with detail: he puts in so much that foreground and background clutter in on each other. And yeah, his rendering of facial expressions is appalling.

I don't get what's so great about that "Wolverine in the rain" panel either.

He also recently registered on Barbelith. So perhaps we should be nice to him.

Then again, we are the people who told Grant Morrison's girlfriend her website was crap...

Ah, but nothing can quite top the 'threatening to mutilate his cats' debacle. Can't seem to recall who initiated that...

Cameron: thankyou. I'd been starting to wonder whether I was the only one not to get a hardon from Wolverine on a motorbike.

Erks. Really?

I keep forgetting that people other than the regular posters actually read this board. For some reason I'm compelled to shoot my mouth off, or jam my foot in it, here more than anywhere else.

Many apologies, Ethan, if you're reading.

I'm obviously just jealous.
