Seems pretty shitty, don't it. Well, it is, but not in the way you think.

You can't get From Hell through Chapters. You'll notice that it's unavailable on the website. This is the most recent edition, but Chapters can't get it. Why?

Because Chapters/Coles/Indigo/Smithbooks/World's Biggest Bookstore is practically a monopoly (oh, let's face it, it is a monopoly), the goverment has put a restriction on it. Namely, Chapters Inc. cannot order books directly from a publisher, but only through its distributor. Therefore, From Hell cannot be ordered, but is shown on the website to acknowledge it's existence. If the book were to actually come through the doors of the Chapters warehouse, I'm sure the price would be sorted out. This happens all the time.

If Chapters actually had any knowledgable staff left after the Great Purge, they would probably have From Hell on the shelf right now, feeding the public demand. As it is, not even half a dozen memos will do the job.

Fuckers. I'm giving my notice at the beginning of December.

Jesus. Sounds like you're one of the last ones left there, moriarty - I hear from wembley that since the big !ndigo/chapters pile-up, there's been staff walking pretty much daily...

I'm hesitant to post this partially because it seems ghoulish, and partially because it would seem that I'm trying to make a point about Adam Moon's theories on history, his observations about similar names cropping up in relation to similar events, and his majikal powaz, but... has anyone else noticed that one of the missing prostitutes in the Ipswich nastiness is named Nicholls, and the Superintendant in charge of the investigation is called Gull?
