a)Yay! Looks like they're gonna start publishing The Invisibles here in sunny Brazil! About time, really!

b)Just finished reading "Perverse Notions", an old Hellblazer 4-issue arc of stories; the one with a cat-man named Murnarr and an old english Ghost(reaally old, back to 1995, I think).
WHAT JUST HAPPENED?? The first 2 issues were clever and the story really good, and then the ending fucked up the whole thing. What's with this Eddie Campbell guy anyway? Is he always this crappy?
Too bad you won't remember the thing, it being so old. So I'll be the one in the corner ranting alone...

Eddie Campbell is never crappy. Well thats not true. His small press history sociology obsessions are worthy dull, but his good work is very good.

The removal of the story arc to Australia didn't really work well, and I think he was editorially pressed for a quick wrap up.

I think he probably was quite keen to take Constantine to Australia as that's were he lives.

If you've got issues talk to Eddie via hisweb page.

He's been pleasant with me, when I've e-mailed him before.

Hey!... I remember it quite well *goes all misty-eyed* and I'm not that old.
(ok, I am, but that's beside the point... )

Re: Perverse Notions: it certainly didn't help at the time that it came out just after Ennis/Dillon slam-bang farewell Rake at the Gates of Hell. It made it seem duller by comparison (well for me at least...)

And no, Eddie Campbell is not a bad writer/artist by any measure. His own work is very good: Bacchus, etc...

Was that the Hellblazer story that had some Discordians in it, and one of them gets his head cut off?

or something.

The issues you mention are the only ones of Hellblazer I own. This may have some bearing on how little I now like Hellblazer.

However I did cut them up and make some nice collages, so I don't feel my money is wasted.
