Boring Barbelith, Please

My name is ZoCher and I'm a Barbeholic.

Thing is, I have no self control and I have three essays due by Thursday (if I'm going to free myself up for a lovely long Easter weekend with the Indian Elephant).

So could you all please just post stuff that's well above my head in the Headshop etc. and avoid enticing froth (and anything related to David Bowie, Bear's dreams, or any Mordantisms at all) in the Conversation.

Lots of threads about how boring the 'Lith is these days or how we'll all be eaten by giant lizards this June would be helpful.

Thank you.

so, I hear we're all going to be eaten by nattily-dressed lizards around the start of summer. I can't recall exactly how they said the lizards would dressed, but I'm pretty sure they mentioned the words "bowlers" and "paisley."

In the spirit of tough love, I will assume the part of the Verizon wireless guy in order to make the board so boring that he'll finish his work (ahem):

"Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? Good!", "Can you hear me now? And I'm not even on top boring form. Can't think of anything to say. Sorry.

I think my dire-as-shite English coursework over in he Art forum should make you go "Mmm... work", but is probablly to lame to actually effect you in any great way.

Oh, it's so good to have me back, don't you think?

Me too, ZoCher (well, not three essays, but an interview, a chapter, and a rough zine layout - does that count?)

Which begs the question why we both started threads today.

In the meantime, here is a quote from my chapter notes, which manages to be both boring and obscure:

Against the (cosmic-inevitable reiteration or just remaining of) the Roman civil war, Vergil staked his hopes for the future on a georgic failure to read, as if the angel of history could just turn round.

Ta-da!

And Ta-Da!

Here's my butcering of your chapter note:

(Yes. I'm that bored. And at work.)

Against the future failure, a cosmic turn around of history. The Roman angel (orof)could just staked his inevitable reiteration on the georgic civil war. Vergil hopes for the remaining just to read. As if!

You think you're bored!

Onto the just war against Vergil; for, remaining inevitable, the history of the Roman future - civil or cosmic - could read as a reiteration of georgic angel failure (just if the staked hopes turn round).

I'm quite proud of that. Somebody shoot me.

But this is getting too interesting. Let me tell you about our bathroom. We've put the lino down (an off-cut, only 12 quid, not too keen on the colour but it's better than what we had before, which was a tatty peice of carpet, very difficult to keep clean and so small it made you feel a fool hoiking out the vacuum cleaner just to do 3 or 4 strokes) and painted the walls a lovely, strawberry ice-cream pink (they were a bitch to prepare though, had to sand the existing layer of shiny matt vinyl down to a matt finish - Matt's advice to use an orbital sander was bollocks, did next to nothing, too weedy, should have used a beefy circular sander instead. Why did I assume he'd be right about it? Just because he knows about motorbikes and trees, and drives a root-borer with caterpillar tracks. Cyuh.) But the best part is we've insulated and boxed in one set of the pipes and have all the bits ready to do the next lot. Very chuffed with our work on that, first attempt at such a thing and I have to say it's a professional looking result.

Don't dis yourself Glint! That's the meatiest thread-start in Art & Design for a while. I absolutely intend to respond... time though, time time time. Can you believe they're actually making me do some work at my day job? Happens far too often these days.
