Does anybody have any info on this. I know it was a few years ago, but going through some boxes I found Issues 1&2. How many were there.

Just two issues, so worth getting hold of them if you can.
Good stuff, and you can’t help wondering what might have been…

Ta. That is a bit deflating. Now I've read them again I want more. Why was it stooped?

the writer and artist fell out.

This is the version i have heard-- anyone able to add flesh to these bones?

Apparently the bone of contention was the amount of detail that alan moore (the writer) wanted to bring to the book- there would be notes about how certain bits of background architecture didn't look sufficiently like the photo refs he provided...

Al Columbia was brought on to replace Sienkiewitcz (SP!) but i think he suffered a mental breakdown at which point Moore abandoned work on the project

Interview here.

Another interesting page regarding a potential TV adaptation of Big Numbers, with 15 pages of interview with Moore wherein he outlines the rest of the story in broad strokes.

Eddie Campbell's Alex: How to Be An Artist has further details of the problems with Big Numbers#3. and thank you very much Jack for those links.

Yup...

Big Numbers was great stuff while it lasted and theres some interesting history that goes with it...

But i really recommend any of Al Columbias stuff either Doghead which he did before BN or any of the stuff he went on to do...

2 issues of the Biologic show and some stuff for Fantagraphics' Zero Zero and bits in Blab...

I really have to say that he is my all time favourite comic guy...Got over the Sienkiewitcz influence after BN and really came into his own...

little sick twisted world...and i love him dearly...theres really no-one like him and the fact that he's pretty fucked up and very rarely allows any of his stuff into print makes him even more loveable...

Seek him out!!
Death to Columbia!!

the rumor i heard (from where, I can't remember, but I seem to think it was somewhat reputable, sorry if this turns out to be completely disparaging and inaccurate) is that big numbers suffered from Bill's addiction at that the time to...I think it was heroin. or cocaine.

in any case...hmm...i re-read my copies of those issues. I remember not really being to into it at the time.

It would have survived as a comic if it had chain fights.
