Was anyone reading this? Does anyone want to talk about it? I just finished a re-read and it was fucking great. Easily one of the best non-super-hero super-hero titles ever written. The powers are incidental, not indispensable. Read it, read it now!!!

Yeah, that was a damn good series. It was amazing to see how well the Hill Street Blues narrative structure worked for a comic book. And Moore can do no wrong. The episode with the dying Great Gamer was just brilliant.

Can I brag a moment here, and say that I figured out who Bluejay’s murderer was several issues early? The pixies’ babblings told the story.

Really?
I was reading that stuff trying to figure it out but got nowhere. I'm gonna have to go back and have another look.
You can brag all you want m'man.

I'm off to have a coffee with the Rumor (sp?)

"Madam, I'm Adam a man a plan a canal panama madam I'm Adam."

Notice the phrase "Adam a man"? And check out:

"Catamite, Chattermite, Splittermite, Splattermite"

"Seven take one is deepy sixty"

Both suggest the coverup of the Seven's pedophile ring.

I'm sad that we only got twelve issues. Each character had so much personality, I'm miss 'em heaps.

Now we wait for Smax the barbarian...

I thought it was great - a wonderful spin on superheroic stuff.
And the revelation of who the killer was really took me by surprise - I wasn't expecting it that issue at all.
Marvellous, marvellous work - and the detail in the artwork repays repeated viewing.
Anyone know if the remaining issues are going to be collected ? I think Vol 1 covers the first 7 or so, but I'd like to have it in a more lasting format.

If Dc've got any brains they'll releas all 12 in one volume. This'll piss off everyone who bought the first tpb, but I can't see them just collecting 5 issues. Actually, come to think of it, if they published 2 six issue trades (a la Planetary) then there wouldn't be too much overlap.

I've just reread it, too. Excellent. Easily the best ABC title after the League. It's just so strong and consistent, and the characters....mmmm. Just mmmmmm. Really looking forward to the 49ers and Smax. Moore was talking about them in the Comics Journal (or somesuch) just before League 2 hit the shelves, so hopefully we won't have to wait too long now. There was a lot of love in that book.

The second trade collecting issues 8 - 12 is in DCs march listings.

Cool, at that rate there should be a Smax tpb in a bit less than 3 years. I dont think Ill buy it as issues, it will only encourage them. Ill probably get the 49ers in HC if its not too expensive.

I liked the everyday joe trying to make a living with things happening like: "the cat & mouse thing escalated to a secret crisis crossover war, with cosmic powers involved. They must have altered time itself!"

Want some other comic sugestions? Pick up a copy of "Fused", a man is fused into his robot armor and has to cope, i picked up the first 2 issues today and its really some solid stuff, also SLG (Slave Labor Graphics) puts out a couple good titles. all for now.
