Collector pricing question

It looks like I'm buying a house. Some extra cash would be handy.
I've got a full collection of "Sandman" - mostly first printings, all in good condition. (I'm not sure what the definition of "fair" really is, so some *may* be fair - no one would think twice if they were on the racks as new books, though).

What kind of price do you think I could get for the full run? And how do you think I could best get it - eBay?

This is the terrible thing about comics. They are worth what people will pay for them. Not to get into horror stories, but when I was very young my father sold his collection to buy a car for the new family. His collection was worth $3000 easy, but all he could get was $700. My best advice to you is , put down a price that you think is a little high and be prepared to get less (hopefully not alot less)
Best of luck !

Yuk!

Not Canadian Dollars?

And Grant if you sell your comics, what will you use you house as a container for?

Sad fact is, Grant, that there really is virtually no market for second-hand comics these days unless they're pre-1965. Sandman is a particularly tricky title to unload - I tried getting rid of my Sandman collection not too long ago and the comic shops that usually accept my old comics without question wouldn't touch them, telling me they'd never sell because most people only want the collected editions.

eBay is probably your best - only? - bet, but even then I'd say chances are slim that you'd get the sum that you'd like...

I just had a quick peek on ebay and there's nothing there. Speaking as a professional (snicker, snort), I could see giving $200 for the lot. I added them up from the recent overstreet and in NM condition they come to$427. Granted I 'm still relatively new at this but I can't see anywhere giving you much more than half what they're worth. I'd take them myself, but I've kind of run out of money.

(Zoom promptly sinks into hell....oh no, it's just owning a store.)

Zoom.

That's about what I expected, actually.
I wonder if I just sold the Sandman #1 and maybe my copies of The Longbow Hunters (which I saw selling for some ridiculous price a while back).... I'll have to check eBay just to see.
Can't hurt to sell 'em off, I suppose.
(And just to be clear, we're talking about less than a 20th of the comics I own, I think. Plenty of room in the house to be filled up by the white boxes....)

Funny you should say that theres no market for comics, my local store is selling the first run of the authority for IR£20 (about $23) or gbp£15.That's not so bad is it.I'm waiting for them to go higher before I sell though. If ever

the difference between the authority and the sandman is that at the moment there is a swathe of authority issues that have not (and in the current political climate, may never) be collected where as the whole of the sandman is available in trades

the longbow hunters is just about to come out as a trade. this might reduce your chances of selling. and i already have it

There may be no market for comics. There is always a market for the gullible.
