As far as I'm aware they generally publish grand space-opera type stuff like Metabarons, which although beautifully drawn doesn't really interest me.

Though there is a Metabarons graphic novel coming out written by Alejandro Jodorowsky and drawn by Travis Charest which I'm quite looking forward to.

I read Metabarons and the Incal at the moment and find them quite marvellous.

Metabarons is EPIC. Love, murder, betrayal, war, intrigue, weird sex, conspiracy, galactic scale destruction and REALLY intense passion and emotion, and that all in ONE issue. And it escalates with every issue. I love it.

I'm also enjoying the Incal, and its only at issue two. I can tell its going to be a very 'grand' tale.

I recommend.

I saw the new Incal and the art looked pretty good. Its not Moebius though. Whats up with that? Is it the same story? It looked pretty similar. I was gonna buy it but the good comic shops are 30 miles to the north or south and theres no guarantee I'd be able to get all the issues. Must...wait...for...trade.

It is Moebius. The colours have just been touched up by a new artist apparently. The original colours were considered 'too bright' for the dark content of the story.

Humanoids publishing seem to be largely unknown despite the success of Metal Hurlant (screaming metal) the inspiration to america's Heavy Metal. Equally tragic is how few translations of continental comics there are outside of Moebius and Bilal there is the odd matotti collection and that's about it.

Les Humanoïdes Associés were instrumental in bringing about the modern age of comics in France in the late 70's and early 80'S by giving a home to artists dealing with more mature themes, sophisticated plotlines and grittier art (such as Moebius, Bilal, Druillet, Jodorowsky... as well as the art of H.R. Giger) mostly through the pages of Métal Hurlant. Because of this they are still highly respected in the francophone comics world. Even today they still publish some of the most beautiful albums out there and attract talented artists.

I have many books which are reprints of stuff from that era, like the Légendes d'aujourdhui series (written by Christin and drawn by Bilal) and Bilal's Nikopol Trilogy, which I still consider one of the greatest works of illustrated art ever produced.

I haven't read a lot of their recent releases, due to high album prices, but now that the local libraries are wisening up I may finally be able to borrow a lot of them (Mille Visages looks interesting).

I read all of the Incal and it is completely fucking amazing. Jodorowsky's writing plus Moebius art makes it one of the best comic books of the 80s. It should be enjoyed in the original format though, which is a bit bigger that your traditional DC comic.

Unfortunately the second series "John Difool before the Incal" as it is called in german destroys the impact of the first 6 issues slightly and becomes more and more confuse as it progresses.

I noticed the changed art as well in the Humanoids version. Disaprove of it vehemently. While it makes the art look more like the one in later issues I came to think that Janjetovs first issue was the most beautiful one. Not in this version though.

They also came out with another new issue that is set AFTER the main 6 issues, drawn by Moebius again and unfortunately it has a dispointing Good vs Evil Theme. Dont really understand how that could have happened
