Marel have announced plans to reprint its GI JOE and Transformers comics while Dark Horse have the licence to reprint Marvel's run of star wars comics.

hmm maybe i will be able to get hold of the fabled last issue of starwars (105) that never quite made it to the UK and rapped up the whole Nagai/Toff war...

Star Wars #107 was the final issue. Volume 7 of the trade paperbacks allegedly collects #96-107.

The nagai were sadistic goth-a-like aliens with a fondness for knives who filled the bad guy vacuum in the marvel starwars comics after the fall of the empire as the new republic began to establish itself- they also provided employment for a lot of the old Empire's storm troopers. The Toffs were their green skinned piratesque enemies who were even worse than the nagai

I'm a bit unsure of the numbering of the US starwars comics 'cos I was reading them as they were reprinted in the UK's Return of the Jedi weekly which stopped publishing halfway through the climactic power struggle between the new republic the Nagai and the Toffs- and I want to know what happened next

The last issue or so was difficult to get hold of because it featured the inking skills of Whilice Portaco...

Isn't "toff" a negative slang phrase for a gay person in Britain? Or for a person who is just annoying and sort of stupid?

I have all these Star Wars issues - they're ok but not great. The last 20 issues or so are drawn by a female penciller who was pretty good -- I think she left comics after that run. She had potential to become really good, I thought.

And are you joking that Whilce Portacio's INKS made the price go up or made the comic hard to find, can they?? I've never heard of anyone's *inks* making something hard to find or valuable -- then again, maybe this was back because of the whole Image thing when many teenybopper fans went ga-ga over all things Jim Lee, Portracio, etc. and just bought anything with their name on it.

Whilce Portacio's early inking wasn't anything to write home about. I think dealers just like to hike the prices of final issues of cancelled comics on the grounds that if a series was axed because of low sales, they probably would have printed fewest copies of the last issue.

'Toff's are what coal miners/servants/mill workers call their upper class masters in badly-written novels.
