Dark Knight Strikes Back

Is anyone else as excited as me about Frank Millers return to the future Batman.
I doubt I would still be reading comics if not for the Dark Knight Returns, all them years ago.
Can the sequel be anywhere near as good?
I can`t wait to find out!

I am baffled why anyone is excited about this - yes dark knight returns was a fantastic achievement 15 years ago but for the past 10 years miller has done little more than sit on the laurels of his past success and churn out more of the same and now instead of just churning out unecessary sin city and martha washington books he returns to despoil his greatest achievement with an inferior sequel.

There was a time when frank miller mattered. that time would appear to have passed

I loved all the sin city stuff he did, and 300. Miller is a comics God/genius, and I'm sure he wouldn't be doing the dark knight sequel unless he had new things to say.

So there.

And that, if you are going to write a book called "300", it might be an idea to read Herodotus more than once.

The last time Miller returned to a character he did ground breaking work on , the result was "The Man Without Fear".

Anf frankly that wasn't a patch on what had gone before.

To be fair, "Man Without Fear" was a failed movie pitch - when the script was rejected it was turned into a comic.

But yes, the dog shouldn't return to the vomit.

The funniest thing was a concerned post somewhere on USENET when it was announced saying "but where does it fit to in continuity?"

I don't pretend to know a good deal about greek historians, but I could have sworn the general consensus on Herodotus was that he tended to exaggerate to the point where his numbers were questionable at best. At least, my old history teacher said so, and he's a crazy old redneck ex-pro wrestler. I trust him on a lot of things, if not just for the fact that if I don't he'll put me in a boston crab.

You know what pisses me off? Thespians. A thousand or so Thespians. At Thermopylae. Nobody ever mentions them.
