Apologies if this has been covered before (can't find any reference in the current archives)...

Does anyone know anything about a document Grant wrote detailing his world of 2012, or is this a piece of apocrypha?

And aside from the snippets on Grant's site, are the scripts online anywhere?

Grant wrote a very detailed document explaining life in 2012 as a companion to the script for issue 2.6, to help artist Michael Lark visualise the world of the future. It was given away as a prize in a letter-column contest but has never seen print in any form.

No scripts online.

a writer named Patrick Neighly will have an Invisibles Companion (much like the Sandman one) around Christmas. that should have more information if not the actual document.

If he's a bear-lovin psychiatrist comics-readin internet addict I'll be very worried.

I'll be buying it - I've been waiting ages for someone to authoritatively tell me what to think about the Invisibles.

Should generate a whole new slew of Invisibles-related arguments. It'll just be like the old days of the Nexus >sigh<

Yes, but as Cameron has mentioned, it should have some very spiffy new artwork in it...

If it's out by Christmas it certainly isn't coming from DC, so it might be decent...

That was a good, nostalgic >sigh< by the way, not a bad, fed-up >sigh<.

Hopefully it will have more information in it than Sandman Companion, I don't think that is a bad book but it gives the impression that Neil's in a rush to leave for the whole thing so they're trying to get through it as quick as possible...

Vol. 3 will be collected in a single, Watchmen-size volume.

Not sure when, though - some time in 2002.

Salaam, y'all.

As far as the Invisibles Companion goes, my pitiful web fu reveals nothing. However, there appears to be a Patrick Neighly who was active on the Yahoo Invisibles list until a few months ago. I believe he's the same guy who's editing some Dr. Who charity anthology. He's evidently the managing editor of some trade rag called America's Network. So at least he can write in a professional capacity. I believe he's also written some letters to Savant, critiquing their review style, with some justification I think.

All praise to Google!

An Invisbles Companion eh?

Ideaidea:

Barbelith: An Invisibles Companion.

Written by the people on this board, authorised by Grant Morrison, published by DC, and the money we make goes towards the server.

I had hoped not to have to whore myself out until the book was ready, but it looks like the cat's out of the bag.

No, it's not through DC and yes, it's authorized by Grant, who was kind enough to invite me into his home for background discussions.

To allay some fears - it's not an ordained "meaning of THE INVISIBLES" and unlike the Sandman book it's not a hagiography. However, I expect much of it will be familiar to the more hardcore fans.

Like Cameron said, you can expect new interviews and artwork from almost everyone involved in the series.

As for anything else, I don't want to be a wanker and toot my horn so please be patient!

...and for what it's worth, I haven't worked for that "trade rag" for about half a year now!

Hey, I said my web fu was pitiful. I've yet to master cyber-stalking...

Thanks for the brief heads-up, though. When should we expect more info?

If I recall correctly, the script and document in question never made it into the winner's hands. I seem to recall it getting lost by Herr Morrison.

Is there a slight chance that at least some excerpts from original scripts might be in the upcoming 'Invisibles Companion'? If I recall correctly, there was one page in Mark Salisbury's section on Grant in his most enjoyable 'Writers on Comics Scriptwriting'.

That wasn't from this issue though it was one of the last issues of series 2, because it identified the blind chessplaying dude as Satan...

Doesn't actually have anything to do with Grant's 2012 does it?
