Um, she looks like a bumblebee. and why are those people crossing their arms like her? Is she the queen bee? If she were half naked I'd say the character was based on li'l kim. And what happened to the first Angel?

I think it's cover art. That's the kind of thing that happens in cover art.

It's a continuation of the "each teammate gets a cover" theme.

Can't wait for Xorn's cover.

Um, wait...I thought Angel was supposed to be white trash?

I guess I just misunderstood the whole Jerry Spring angle. I like the idea of a black woman who looks like a black woman in the group (say, unlike exotic supermodel Storm) along with a Chinese man 20-odd years the senior of the other team members.

I wonder what the Muslim woman will be like...

Yeah, it's all getting very multicultural, isn't it?

I like the fact that crossing their arms gives everyone an 'X' on their chest...

Well, that's the roots of the X-Men since the beginning of Claremont's first run... his All New All Different X-Men was a Canadian, an African, a German, a Russian, an Irishman, a Native American, and a Japanese man... and then later on, a midwestern Jewish girl, a southern girl, a British woman, a Chinese-American girl, a Cajun, another Native American, etc, etc....

Yellow & black clothes + three-fingered hand sign = Latin Kings.

Did a story on them a while back.
The gang that insists it's not a gang.

Here: A "People" pdf file.
(People are Bloods-affiliated, I think. the other side are "Folks")

Here: A news story on the Kings. They've been trying to recoach themselves as a civic organization lately, and have actually lectured at a New York City college (I can't remember which one, but it pissed the police off, because their academy is part of the institution).

That'd be an interesting meme swap - the young superhero team vs. the youth gang.

Has anyone seen any other as-yet-unreleased New X-men covers around on the net recently? If so, could you link 'em?

I wonder if Marvel won't get cold feet about including her at all, now...

I have a feeling that Marvel will actually avoid that sort of censorship, looking at their recent track record, but who knows....if anyone would have the relative autonomy in the comic book world it would probably be Marvel (successful enough to have money [sort of] and not owned by Warner Brothers, et al)

Benjamin.

Hopefully they won't censor her. Is it confirmed that she can blow herself up? I can't remember how that debate ended.

Whatever, Grant will make sure she's a three dimensional character (and God knows we need a few more three dimensional portrayals of moslems in the popular media) so it'll be cool.....

Is this the character who's supposed to be 'like the Human Bomb'?

If so, could that be her at the back of Emma's classroom in Genosha towards the end of #115?

Yeah, it stands to reason she would've survived. I really want to see her X outfit. I dig the idea of the uniform combined with traditional moslem dress.
