Hi, anyone that might be around. Three part question/concern:
1. Who is jgbell?
2. After all the volunteering of mods to take up more responsibility to make the distributed-moderation thing work, why has he been seemingly granted permission to take action in a way that was previously impossible?
3. Why this final attempt to clean up the spam wasteland, instead of simply putting the board down? I love this place, but it's dead, and in a much more rotting-corpse sense than it was during the barbedeath discussions from years back. Does either Tom or any remain users really think that we're going to ever generate enough quality new content to justify this prolonged state fighting off the spam-wolves with sticks?
[eta:] 4. Why are the moderation actions taking place in public view now? I can see a rationale for more transparency, but I don't think anyone cares that jgbell is putting in a request for a spambot to be terminated. |
