From Newsarama:

Five issues, Third Quarter 2001

Following his acclaimed Vertigo miniseries Heavy Liquid, indy writer/artist Paul Pope returns with a new project in the same format. Set in a moody, urban twilight of nightclubs, cafés and city streets, 100% follows the romantic exploits of three couples in a futuristic Manhattan. Ensconced in the underbelly of boxing, hardcore performance art and underworld crime, the passionate 20-something characters experience sex, love and entertainment - and their unsettling repercussions - at 100% impact.

Vertigo REALLY needs to be putting out more stuff like this...

Nice art.

What else has Pope done? Is he behind THB?

The first Vertigo thing to actually get me excited in .. ages.

I only read Heavy Liquid quite recently. Fucking hell, could a comic be any better?

Was HEAVY LIQUID really that good?
I've been in two minds about whether to buy the TPB or not...

heavy liquid is good but IMO oerpriced £4 odd per issue? £20 for a sofcover trade?

I know the idea is to make a nice art object but it also makes it accessible.

I'd say Heavy Liquid is good but not as good as THB... hey, isn't the new THB supposed to be out any day now? We're on 6d now, right?

To tell you the truth I didn't think Heavy Liquid was that amazing, either. It was good, but felt too hurried at the end like it needed a couple more issues to wrap up. Is there going to be a sequel? I'm still a huge THB fan and feel lucky that I started reading him early so I had a chance to pick up the early issues. Is he putting out a trade of that, too? The last I heard about a THB TPB was around two years ago.

But 100% looks fucking great, and makes me excited about reading a comic again.

I seem to recall mention of a seqeul to Heavy Liqiud but can't remember where...
It's pretty good especially in TPB format I think.
I'm still hoping for a TPB of THB! There seems to be so much to THB, we just gotta have some kind of 'all-inclusive' THB collection.
I'm lookin' forward to 100%.

Hey folks,

This looks sweet. I love Pope's work. Heavy Liquid was expensive, but you gotta give the joe props.

Looks like he is using more ink here than in HL. I'm of two minds about that cause HL looked amazing with just 3(?) inks.

I just hope it comes out on time *cough* THB *cough*

Interesting little world Pope is building.

Anyway for smashing bugfaces on St. Puck's day?

THB?
Haven't I seen a TPB of that?
It's a painted blue cover with "THB?" in a white paint-effect within a square border.

Or am I way off?

THB is probably my favorite comic right now. The art is amazing. It makes you want to jump up and dance.

Go to your nearest comic shop. If the clerk does not have a copy, kill him.

paul pope is not so hot at writing.

his graphics are cool but a little boring.

his sense of self is desperate.

he's culturally slow - lookit the ragged robin avatar he's drawn in the above posted image. How many years too late?

He is so fuckin pained it makes me wanna

yawn.

I hope Grant nevers feels inclined to work with this shmuck.

Heavy Liqiud very, very good indeed.

I'm too skint and provincial to know about the rest of his stuff.

THB was Popes third project (after the self published Graphic novels sin titulo and the ballad of Dr Richardson) told in massive (frequently more than 100 pages) issues.
The first series (5 issues) was unfinished and, so far uncollected and pretty difficult to track down. The current series thb 6a - 6d continues the story. There have also been assorted specials and assorted giantsized comics.

oh and pope also did a graphic novel for darkhorse entitled the one trick rip-off

i've got one THB one-shot that i dug but i didn't really understand it anyone want to explain to me what that series is about?

THE ONE TRICK RIP-OFF kicks ass!

as does Heavy Liquid.

looking forward to 100%, oh and he had a batman backup story in whatever that new batman comic is called that was pretty cool.

Bought the first issue of Heavy Liquid, thought it was dull, derivative and the artwork wasn't that good. Read the second issue in the shop and it confirmed my opinion of the first. There is no more.
