I had a chance to go see Captain America: The Winter Soldier with my brothers and a friend, and we had the typical post cinema discussion, of which I thought I'd post a couple points to start a thread.
Overall, I enjoyed the film, myself. I liked the mix of action and almost noir thriller. Generally good pacing, though there was an oddly lengthy bit of exposition in the middle that felt a little bit like the age old evil overlord spilling his plan to the hero who then foils it. I was a bit uncomfortable with what seemed like an obvious Bletchel test failure when Black Widow is focused at length on sorting Cappy's dating life, but I felt like there was a good amount of story and screen time for the main female character, as well as some good moments for two others. There were some nice teasers for historical SHIELD, which felt like good appetizers for the proposed, forthcoming Agent Carter mini series, which I believe will be one of the new Netflix shows. Also, I couldn't help but wonder what Agents of SHIELD would do with the events in the movie, but noticed that they do indeed appear to respond by including tie in plots.
I have to admit I have not yet read the graphic novel this one was based on, but intend to do so.
The next film scheduled to include Captain America is next year's Age of Ultron, The Avengers sequel due in 2015, and the next film in the marvel series is The Guardians of the Galaxy, coming in August this year, 2014.
