User karinsheng http://www.barbelith.com/profile/19095 has an established pattern of posting spam, such as http://www.barbelith.com/topic/29181#post795549 , and only spam. I'm obviously new to this process, but, if for no other reason than to support transparency, I wanted to post that I have taken these steps: 1) I have flagged for moderation each post for this user that I could find. 2) having established a pattern of abuse, I also took the liberty to administratively ban this this user.

If there any other active mods, please find the flagged posts in your job queue so that we can remove this spam.

Are there actually enough mods around to do this? If I recall correctly, the board died because there simply weren't enough people around to do the whole distributed-mod thing.

Well, that certainly is a concern. With Tom and I on the board, that's two people that can take action to moderate posts ... But, yes, my hope is that there is at least one more at some point that checks in and does their clicky click in the job queue. In the meanwhile, the posts still hang out, but I did administratively ban the user to, I hope, stop any future posts from that particular account.

Looks like the additional modding has happened, and these posts are now removed. I have now proposed this topic locked, as all action on the issue is complete.

Unless there's been a major change that I missed the announcement for, help-desk tickets which are to be "closed" isn't the way this sub-forum works.

It's not a terrible idea though. I wouldn't worry about it either way though...
