Here's a couple that I think need to be shared.
First is Stig's Inferno, which is certainly the best comic book ever written about a shade wandering about Hell looking for a pair of trousers.
From the site: The 1980's series Stig's Inferno was Ty Templeton's first original series. It developed a powerful cult following, and ran for 8 issues from Vortex and Eclipse Comics.
This comic has more humor per panel than most comics have per page. I mean that literally - the level of detail in the art is amazing and there's all sorts of little jokes scattered throughout every frame.
The second offering is Tex Arcana, retelling the experiences of the citizens of the town of Hangman's Corners, Tex Arcana, the Woman in White, and various supernatural critters. This comic was my introduction to the "Weird West" genre. The link is worth the click for the artwork alone.
Tex Arcana is an ADULT serialized fantasy yarn that was published in Heavy Metal magazine beginning in March 1981, and continuing, off and on, through 1987. At that time it totaled 271 pages.
Sadly, both comics are, as yet, unfinished. However, John Findley, the author of Tex Arcana, claims to be working on finishing the series.
Both comics are reproduced here by their respective authors. |
