La Santa Muerte

First of all, hello. Its my first thread here, but i lurk occasionally since when i read the Invisibles some years ago.
I open this thread because i'm interested in La Santa Muerte but can't seem to find much informations about people's experiences with her.
I seem to understand that it's a really demanding entity that requires exclusive worship and work, that its cult is pretty similar to catholicism in spots and that quite a but of mexican brujeria got in there too, but no details. Has anyone got some informations?
Like, how comes that a cult of death gets to more or less freely mix with the Church built by the One that defeated death understood as the "last enemy"? Has she surrendered? Does she now work for the Boss? St. Francis's Sister Death in the canticle of creatures comes to mind.
Also what does her veneration entails? Is it Veneration like that given to Saints or is it actual Worship? If the latter why isn't the mexican church ALL OVER her cultists?

Hi SATOR,

The site is pretty much dead these days unfortunately. However a lot of the former occupants of the Temple threads migrated over to the Liminal Nation site. You might want to try there and see if they can help you.

Hugs,

ES

You might be interested in checking out the work of Andrew Chesnut and David Metcalfe over at Most Holy Death, which is one place that collects their research on Sante Muerte.

Just read a really comprehensive VICE article on the cult of Santa Muerta. Found here:

http://www.vice.com/read/our-lady-of-the-holy-death-is-the-worlds-fastest-growing-religious-movement-456

another bit with more images here:

A Professor of mine also shared an article that came up in a class he teaches on Catholic Saints. I've linked it from my Dropbox here:

I hope this is helpful!
