Spirituality, Magic, and the City?

Urbanomancy, Urban Shamanism, spirituality in the seemingly soul-crushing city. Anyone got info on this sort of thing?

I'm looking for anything, really. Ways to contact the "soul" of the city, find important street laylines, scrying through the randomness of crowds and license plates...

I heard City Magic by Christopher Penczak was good, but I've not been able to find a good download of the PDF.

This old thread on City Magic may be useful, as may this essay.

Honestly, though, dude, you're probably going to get a limited amount of input here; I'm on from time to time as I steadily cannibalize my old posts for spare parts and other folks stop by sometimes, but the Barb is pretty much defunct. Have you tried Liminal Nation?

Thanks for the reply, man. Only recently did I find out about this place, and even more recently that it was dying. That's too bad, it seemed nice.

Anyway, I've never heard of Liminal Nation, and looking at it, it seems much more what I've been searching for in the past; people willing and able to push the envelope.

Also, thank you much for the resources. I'm amazed that there /has/ been so much discussion on the subject, considering the difficulty I've had searching out information.

Might also want to google up on "situationist derive" and "flaneur".

This is my account of city magic in practice, with particular reference to London:

In many ways, I see the term "City Magic" as a bit of a misnomer, or at best a marketing term used to try and sell books. Any magician worth their salt should be interacting magically with the landscape that they find themselves in - and lots of magicians live in cities - so the idea of "City Magic" is weird to me in that regard.

But yeah, Liminal Nation is where a lot of us went after this place started coming off the rails due to various technical pressures.
