Threadlink: Shadowsax Banning Thread

Perhaps it could be considered the beginning of the end of Barbelith but I think that this thread makes for interesting reading.

As the title suggests the original thread was established to discuss the banning of a poster calling themselves Shadowsax who repeatedly made misogynistic comments. Whilst it wasn't the first time that someone had been banned specifically for misogyny it was probably the one that, for me at least, made me re-consider how my posts affect female-identifying posters on message boards.

Be aware it is a rather long thread.

Link here.

It really is a pleasure to read some of that ~ the precision of argument and analysis from people like Haus is something to relish, and I haven't seen anything like this kind of content anywhere else, ever since.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to revisit this thing, particularly.

Sure, witty remarks were made, but they quite often were. By about page ten, if memory serves, it got a bit ugly. People really fell out, seriously, over the head of Shadowsax's antics, which, considering that he's mainly notable for his absence in the thread, seems a touch ironic, or a shame, or whatever.

I guess I bumped it for the same reason I've bumped a lot of threads recently. It's as much for people who happen to be cruising the web and come across the site for the first time as it is for those who travelled into the West.

The site's dead now and I thought there should be a few threads worth reading on the front page, and for all the face-palming and what have you I think the Shadowsax thread was one of the "big moment" threads (for me at least).
