The latest issue of Fortean Times (well, "latest" as in "latest for me" considering that I'm in the U.S. and the zine ships from the UK with a Belgian return address), in the letters section, contains mentions from multiple people regarding a mental trick where you imagine an alarm clock. You set it to a specific time and you go to sleep. Supposedly you will wake up at that exact time as if the mental alarm clock has awoken you. One letter even mentions a deaf dude using this in place of a real alarm clock due to the fact that he would not be able to hear a real alarm clock.
Anybody here have any experience with this or any other type of mental widget? "Mental widget" being a mental trick used to get a specific result. This is one example. Another one would be, if in pain, imagining ice cold water being poured over the area of the body with the pain thus numbing the area. |
