Ahoy all,
Kali and I are hopping across the pond for my sister's wedding in early October, and hoping to rent an apartment for the week rather than stay at a hotel -- the figgerin' is that we'll save money by shopping for food and cooking instead of being locked into eating out every day.
We'd like to rent a place near the Borough Market if at all possible, but -- in general -- what do you recommend in terms of agencies, services, etc.? I've got a recommendation to check Gumtree, and it seems to be much like CraigsList -- lots of stuff, but very little in the way of making sure you're not getting scammed.
So: apartment, one week, late September, near Borough Market. What neighbourhoods are we looking for? What's a reasonable price? What Gumtree tactics and strategies will keep us from getting ripped off? |
