...After centuries of near inactivity, IATLTUCA sees his (in)cult's revival. This reminds me of a funny non-story that happened on Twitter.
Xuxa, one of our very own old school celebrities (from those innocent times when people had to at least go through the hassle of having to generate million dollar revenues to be thought of as a celebrity), as stinking rich, insulated from the real world, pampered and delusional as they get, had a brief tryst with Twitter.
Having never needed to develop a relationship with printed communication that went further than planting her kiss in lipstick on the fans' autograph books, the whole thing went a little rickety, as it was to be expected.
BASICALLY IT INVOLVED HER WRITING EVERYTHING IN CAPS, ALL THE TIME.
Soon people started making fun of her on Twitter, and then on blogs, then the news sites picked it up. When it was brought to Xuxa's attention that she was commiting a faux pas, she decided to stick to it, saying (I don't think the translation will do justice to her annoying feelgood vibe, but): I'M NOT SCREAMING, AND I DON'T WANT TO BE IMPOLITE, PEEPS. WHEN I WRITE ON THE COMPUTER I ALWAYS DO IT LIKE THIS. IT'S MY "LITTLE WAY"!
Lulz were had by all ("jeitinho" means kinda "My little way of doing things"), and soon Xuxa, who had no idea that the internet could be used to break hearts, stormed out of Twitter, leaving a note chastising her tormentors (this time w/ caps lock off) and probably cursing the day she attempted to communicate by other means than pursing her lips and batting her eyelashes... |
