Hey dudes. This is an excerpt from an e-mail my brother just sent me. He works for Coles/Chapters/Indigo, the book-beast that dominates the great white north.
"As you probably know by now, I work for the devil. Heather Reisman, the glorious new leader of the book world has decided in her omnipotence that Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler is no longer suitable to be carried on our shelves. The fact that she completely fails to see the irony of banning a book by a man who encouraged bookburning would be funny if it wasn't so incredibly pathetic. Ms. Reisman (Or Satan as she will now be referred to) also failed to notice that the proceeds from the sale of Mein Kampf go entirely to holocaust related charities. Satan must be stopped, here is an excerpt of what she wrote in response to another employee's letter expressing their concern.
In her original letter to stores.
"while I was visiting one of our stores in Nova Scotia, I noticed a significant facing of the book Mein Kampf. I was quite horrified to see it on our shelves as in the past, to the best of my knowledge, "old" Indigo has never carried this book. I asked that all copies of the book be removed from our shelves across the country and returned post haste to the publisher from where it came."
now, in response to the letter sent in by a fellow employee (Heather Reismans words)
"There are few things about which I feel so strongly as the issue of the difference between freedom of speech and thought and the actual propagation of hate literature. There is no doubt in my mind that we should not be disseminating hate literature whether the target of the hate be Christian, Jew, Moslem [her spelling, not mine], Agnostic, Black, Yellow, Red or White. No amount of money and no amount of sales could ever convince me otherwise.
Adolf Hitler remains one of the most monstrous individuals ever to have walked on the face of the planet. He is responsible for the deliberate annihilation of well over 6 million people. To those who wish to study this period in history there are libraries that no doubt will make this material available."
I'm shocked. I really am.
