It totally depends on the kind of wedding. We had a friend (from Atlanta, of all places) who's a professional guitarist play for us. He just sort of noodled in a jazzy way ("Voodoo Chile" worked its way in there at one point) until the bride showed up, at which point... well, my mind goes kind of blank, but if I had to guess, I'd say "Here Comes the Bride" as you might have heard from somewhere between Les Paul and Django Reinhardt. It suited the environment (steps of a historic school building remade into a social hall, outside-ish, casual-but-not-loose).
One of my favorite wedding intros had the groom & attendants marching in to the theme from Shaft. (Loose. Outdoors. Aimed for smiles.)
A baroque quartet from the local art school might be better if that's the atmosphere you're aiming at.
I sang an old hymn ("Fill our way every day with love") in an old church in Minneapolis with a choir made of other guests for another wedding. There was contra-dancing at the reception, and locally grown flowers. I liked singing with other guests, especially since it wasn't too challenging a melody. |
