I'll try again shall I? Shall we have a winter Barbiemeet in London? In February? At the Plough?

Right, undeterred by the Billy No Mates debacle which my last thread degenerated into I am having another go at getting everyone together. It's not too late, it's still wintertime, so come on you miserable bastards! Post, damn you, post!

Every weekend except for this one is booked up for me. Mid-week is a possibility, Mid-March would be better. Ouch.

You're all MAAAAAAAAAAAD.

I can do next weekend. Mebbe. If the cool kids come.

ETA: "Next" as in not this weekend.

Thanks mice, that was as supportive as it was non-commital!

Ermintrude, it'd be lovely to have you along, but that rather begs the question, are you worth waiting a whole 6 weeks for? :>

Closing Time, if you come along you can wave one of your petitions about and have the Barbiemeet officially closed down almost as soon as you get there, howsabout that? ;>

Anna de Logardiere

Probably not! Sadly you've lost against Valentine's Day, a shopping trip, moving house, 10,000 words of written work and my partner's grandmother's 90th birthday 100 miles away. February is kind of intense.

One of my petitions? It's only been the one so far, and look where that got us: Nowhere!

It triggered a Full and Frank Exchange of Views(TM), and then it went nowhere. This is Barbelith, that's what happens. You have to do your best to come to terms with that. ;>

Well, we'll see how many people register an interest before next (as in not this) weekend. If we're still a few misfits short of a Barbiemeet by the middle of next week then we can do something next month after Ermintrude's done her gerontological duties.

I'd be very up for a barbe/barbiemeet in March (really enjoyed the midlands meet last year), but sadly I cannot London in Feb.

Late March would work for me, maybe. And, I'd love to meet someof the London crowd before Barbelith DIES!!!

Frakin hell - how many times do we need to bury the corpses? March yes, but not the first weekend pretty please.

If anyone wants to do anything sooner, they could always come to this tomorrow-

Morning Bride (featuring Mono, obviously) will be headlining, I'll be getting drunk and trying to tell jokes before the bands come on...

It'll be very...

If this works out at some point and there's a little lead time, I'll try and hop the pond, so to speak, and join in.

Wow, we'd be honoured to have transatlantic journeys made on our behalf. (I can only hope we turn out to be worth it!)

This is the post-apocalypse.

More like the hunting down of the undead that are a plague on the village.

I think it can be both. Maybe I should've called this thread 28 Weeks Later. Or 28 Months Later, depending on your view of when the 'Lith actually died.

At a great gig by Morning Bride (as mentioned above) the suggestion was made that if we were to aim for the 20th, the event could be combined with a Seth gig (wch wd be somewhere in Stoke Newington, I believe). Seems like a good idea to me. A MAN IS WONT TO ATTEND A BARBIEMEET IF MIGHTY WARRIOR SETH BE BANGING HIS DRUMS OF WAR.

So, we are aiming for this...

Charles Hayward + Temperatures + Defibrillators at The Others N16. "A night of percussive mayhem at the Drones Club." This event is scheduled to start at 20:15 on 20 March 2009 at The Others.

... there may be more stylish ways to add details but I don't seem to be able to do so for non-Facebookers - anyone with better web-fu do feel free!

K, gig's only a coupla weeks away now, soo... does anyone want to suggest a nice pub to meet in? Shall we start central and work east, or in Stokey?

I mean 'work north east', don't I?

It's most likely at this stage (mate coming over to visit for a week) that I'll head straight for the gig. This might change, especially if people end up going for drinks in Stokey/somewhere close to the venue.

Yeh, unless I hear a barrage of complaints about this I am thinking that we should start in Stokey.

Lurching undead-like from my post-apocalyptic Barbegrave, can I suggest the Birdcage on Stamford Hill as a good place to meet in Stoke Newington before the gig? It's close to Stoatie's gaff as well as to The Others, and is quite salubrious.

However, in order to witness Seth's set, I recommend arriving early, as Defibrillators are on at ~9pm. It's going to be a packed programme of percussion roaming late into the night at a venue whose comfy sofas are legendary, as is the free and gratis table football - and extensive, sheltered smoking area out back for those who indulge.

It will also be lovely to see familiar Barbebarians - A WHOLE ROAST HOG SHALL BE A MAN'S MEAL BEFORE THE MIGHTY WAR DRUMS SOUND THEIR THUNDER O'ER STAMFORD HILL AND DOWN INTO THE VALLEY OF STOKEYYYYY ITSELF. TAKE HEED, O YE MIGHTY TOWERS OF LLUNDAIN - THE BARBARIANS ARE COMING!

Not gonna make the gig but might be able to manage a swifty in the Birdcage.

Stoatie, if you can manage a swifty in the Birdcage, you can stumble along to see Seth play for, then go to work...

Do we have a plan for all this?

I finish work at five at Charing Cross and am then basically free like opinions on Watchmen's ending.

Bill, I am looking at you. You know why.

Am finishing work around the same time, had envisaged getting to Stokey by 1800 but that may have been optimistic, maybe 1900? Anyway, we'll be in the Birdcage until 2100 when we'll all be at the gig.
