Michael W Ford and 'Luciferian' witchcraft and magick

Been reading this guy's book - Liber HVHI (michael w. ford) - and he seems totally immersed in investigating the 'devilish' side of magick. His scholarship appears far beyond my arsedness to check the actuality of what he says but i get the impression this dude practices what he preaches totally. My only misgiving is that once again - like so many modern magickal books on 'satan' and 'lucifer' it appears to come down to painting these currents as being not about doing total evil to others but actually 'LIBERATION but with a cool cyber-goth aesthetic and THAT - HELL i CAN DRAW SKULLS AND DEMONS BUT STILL BE ILLUMINED!'. Really every book I've read aside from the Medieval Grimoires spins this line...

So two pronged question - does this stuff have legs?
And is there room for actual truly horrible stuff in 'knowing thyself' beyond re framing such stuff into 'challenges'. Horrible - truly horrible - *not* what your manager means when ze says 'challenges'. Tell me!

I always though that discovery of "horrible" sides of magic is a way of discovery of my own more "devilish" sides. I usually approach magick as a full-contact self-psychotherapy, so any devils you discover are all your own.
Beyond that how do you perceive the name of his Liber? What does it mean to you? Does he explain it?
