Mod Team - Radio & Music

In the interests of making Radio & Music more worth looking at than it can be, I thought it might be an idea to convene a mod thread to discuss where we see it going and what we are willing to do to make that happen.
I'd also like to know which mods are about, and who would consider themselves active, who engaged, and who would claim only janitorial duties. What level of interest do you have? How much do you care? How much effort can you see yourself putting in?

I'm aware the pressure of time and the difficulty of discussing music will get in the way, as they have always done. I also want to talk about why, and maybe work out a way to get round that.

On the books we have:

uncle retrospective,
Y SO ALT?,
rizla mission,
Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!,
El Directo,
grant,
Ethan Hawke,
Matthew Fluxington,
gridley,
8===>Q: alyn,
Life Critic,
Mon Oncle Ignatius
and
Shiny

Obviously that list is out of date, as are all the mod lists. If we could build a more useful list, perhaps here, I think that would help us. Shall we do that first?

For me....

I am able and willing to remain active, and to engage. I am unable to commit large amounts of time so my activity and my engagement will be sporadic, but I can and will check in with the site to prosecute janitorial duties. While my calendar is full and often unpredictably so, I am around. (most of my calendar is music based anyway... hopefully there will be some crossover)

(This topic was inspired by a post from Jack The Bodiless in the fileshraing thread, where he linked to a new thread, basically a depository thread for a PR about Mariliion. I was wondering whether we should merge the two, wondering about how to do so and so on, and then realised... We should talk about it. We should do this stuff less like a disparate gaggle of strangers and more like a dedicated assembly. Feel free to discuss that topic here, but I was going to wait til we'd figured out who wants what.)

I'm here. I've felt less engaged with Music over the past year or so, mainly because I don't really buy albums any more, although I swap mix CDs and make my own.

I'm around mainly to agree things, although it doesn't take much to get me to offer an opinion. (Marillion thread? Why not?)

I am active, and very willing to engage, but have not found enough time to do so recently - which is something I'd like to rectify.

Cool. Any more for any more?

What do you guys see as priorities for a shiny new Radio and Music? One thing I imagined was starting more varied topics; less need for threads to about either an act or a recording, maybe. That would mean you could join in without buying anything, grant.

(Marillion thread OP seemed more like a word-for-word PR dump, potentially a long post in the fileshare thread, albeit if it had more comment)

My contact with the music section these days is mostly just agreeing changes and looking for big problems.

I'm not round these parts much anymore, the 'lith has lost it's shine so I can be demodafied if you want. I still drop by but this isn't a place where I do anything other than talk about Doctor Who.

I've got a couple of ideas for threads for the forum, which I'll get to work on after I'm done drafting a massive series of Liminal Nation posts. I'm in.

I would be inclined to post more in this forum, but my major problem seems to be I don't really know *how* to talk about music. Which might be worth a thread on its own. Would anyone else be interested?

Sure!

I'd be interested. I'd also be up for coordinating a bit. We could help each other work out any ideas for threads that aren't yet fully formed, and maybe even develop a bit of a gameplan. Nothing too scary, like. Just a bunch of us talking to a purpose. Would that help?
