Sure - as I said, he's fairly well in the centre of Democratic opinion. This makes him slightly less bad than Clinton, who's basically a neocon on foreign policy, or McCain, who's just batshit insane, but doesn't make him an attractive option; he's still, for example, aggressively posturing in relation to Iran (albeit not, as Clinton has been, threatening to nuke them) and he still considers a few thousand American lives to be of greater importance than a million plus Iraqis. As for Israel, I'd be suspicious of anyone talking about balance between both sides as though it was a situation with equal blame on all sides, but Obama doesn't even go that far; he's still talking about ensuring Jerusalem "remains" the undivided capital of Israel, and sent surrogates to - I forget where, the UN? - to make sure Israel was not criticised for its arguably-genocidal blockade of the Gaza strip. |
