What would the time/gallon ratio be today, I wonder? How much does A MODERN MAN have to work for a sweet gallon of processed Texas tea?

I tried to find an answer to that question, but it´s tricky to find an average US pay per hour number. I came up with 25 $. A gallon is around 4 $ right now.

To find the amount of minutes you have to work for the gallon, multiply 60 (minutes) with 25 and divide by four.

That´d be about ten minutes you have to work in the US for your gallon of gas.

In Venezuela you can currently buy 45 litres for about 1 euro (story in Spanish). The cheapest in the world due to subsidies. "Experts say that they should just give it away as it would save on admin and personnel costs".
