This Sunday

I'm still hearing bitter-old-man when it comes to the quality of our genre characters degrading progressively towards the some weak, nightmarish present.

Other than that, I just dragged out Black Dossier for a reread (still think the Fanny and the Beat bits are the best, still amazed how many iterations of the central theme there are), so I'm excited for this. Bring on this Brecht and Carnacki birth of the Moonchild.

Is there a release schedule for the three parts, yet?

The 'things are shit now stories are such a degraded currency' gripe's being going since From Hell, as far as I recall.

Don't care, though. I reread Dossier the other day too, and was still struck by the Gally-wag's ship and all the same stuff that got me last time.

Any description of the pages at GOSH?

Well it's April.
Can anyone confirm a release date for this book?

It's definitely on the way. Nuneaton Savage has read it, and my local comic shop have a black and white review copy.

First or second Thursday in May now, apparently.

It'll be worth the wait I'm sure, but best, as ever, to adopt a zen approach when it comes to this series.

Brush up on 'Threepenny Opera'. Learn them melodies. Seriously, do it. You'll miss fun if you don't.

I've never read anything so simultaneously dense yet slight in my life.

It's a bit of an odd'un.

Moore and O'Neill signing specially-shipped over copies of the first part of LOEG: Century at GOSH!, Saturday 2nd May.

Full details here.

And no, you can't reserve a copy. On the day only, goshdarnit.

I might go along to that. Anyone else? We could go for a beer afterwards (or possibly during, if there's too long a queue ...)

Nobody then?

Okay.

Look forward to headlines such as

'Crazed Pensioner Cuts Comics Genius' Hair -

"To the delousing unit with you!" the uber-fan screamed, brandishing scissors, as ze was carted off somewhere quiet, to calm down a bit.

Moore said;

"It was like being in The Beatles. But more the later years ..."

The pensioner escaped hir shackles, and had to be drugged at this point.

"Coals to Newcastle", ze said, as ze went under "Coals to pigging Newcastle ..."

Really good day, Alan Moore was in a wonderfully chatty mood. I enjoyed the comic having time to read it three times in the queue.

Loved it, loved the change of pace. Nice to have it back so soon after Black Dossier, but wish they'd kept a lid on it for longer as the 21st Century installment doesn't seem on the cards will 2011. Worth the wait, of course...

Just reading Century at the moment. Norton, prisoner of London who appears in the first issue is based on novelist and psychogeographer Iain Sinclair who published stories about Norton in his book, Slow Chocolate Autopsy - a couple of these were presented as comic strips with art by Dave McKean.

Is it in comic shops in the UK yet? And more importantly is it in my comic shop, where they mainly sell console games at twice the price of the game shop over the road?

I hear Gosh flew some over, they might have some left. A shipment error supposedly led to it being delayed again. Probably this week, at the worst next week. That's what I heard anyway.

...many wonderful cameos dotted about the place - I won't spoil it, but a famous pipe smoker and a famous cig smoker and his family are there for the spotting - both well away from their usual habitats.

I barely know Brown Lantern, actually, but he does seem like a nice chap.

He's waiting to graduate to full mindless status
