Westboro Baptists get Rickrolled! Looks like Anonymous may have started a trend...

I know this could just as easily go in the YouTube thread, but, well, Barbelith's kinda slow at the moment, and this is a thing of such amazing joy that I can even forgive the appalling use of apostrophes at the beginning.

Fuck. How the hell did I forget that part?

Ah, this is the link I was going to use- the other one has better punctuation, but the actual Rickrolling is dubbed in later, which spoils it a bit.

If "YMCA" was the song originally used in the meme rather than "Never Gonna Give You Up," rolling the Westboro Baptist Church would have been so much more effective.

Or "Go West".

YMCA and Go West are a liiittle well-worn these days. May I suggest a soupçon of Divine instead?

That is a wonderful find. The gender ambiguity of the vocalist is icing on the cake, unless it's a woman and I'm just overanalyzing things in thinking that she might have a penis.

Also, I was a little late in trying to correct the typo in my above post.

Can't get YouTube at work, but PLEEEEZ tell me that was a link for Walk Like A Man.

"So You Think You're A Man," in fact. I gave due consideration to the cowboy drag kings, but in the end Divine singing "...you weren't man enough to satisfy me!" won out.

Phil, mate, don't analyse. Just bask in the joy.

I remember ... I remember that Divine track being introduced on Top of the Pops by Dave Lee Travis.

A week later, it was followed up by Batesy, on the morning show.
