Someone asked me to play "slide" today, and I started recalling all the hand games or clapping games I used to play at recess. I remember liking Rockin' Robin the best, but I can't remember what the clapping pattern was. And there were a lot of different versions of the words, not always polite.
If you remember your hand games, put them here. If you remember only the rhymes, awesome; if you can describe the clapping patterns, even better.
I'll start:
Slide (two people)
Sliiiiiide
[hands in clapping position, but with one of your partner's hands between yours; slide your hands out of each other's grasp]
baby one
[clap together, clap right hands]
baby two
[clap together, clap left hands]
baby I love you
[clap together, backwards high fives, high fives, backwards high fives]
one, two,
[clap together, clap right hands] x2
one, two
[clap together, clap left hands] x2
one
[clap together, backwards high fives, high fives]
two
[repeat]
one, two, three,
[clap together, clap right hands] x3
one, two, three,
[clap together, clap left hands] x3
one
[clap together, backwards high fives, high fives]
two
[repeat]
three
[repeat]
...and so on, until someone messes up.
Unfortunately slide is one of the less interesting ones. Here are the words that I remember to Rockin' Robin:
(Shake shake shake to the rhythm of the beat!)
We're gonna rock through the treetops, all night long
Huffin' and a puffin' and a singin' that song
All the little birdies on Jay bird street
Love to hear the robin go TWEET TWEET TWEET
Rockin Robin, tweet, tweetaleet
Rockin Robin, tweet, tweetaleet
Go rockin robin cuz we're really gonna rock tonight
Batman and Robin flying through the air
Batman lost his underwear
Robin said I'll buy a new pair
But you don't know what size I wear
Rockin Robin, tweet, tweetaleet
Rockin Robin, tweet, tweetaleet
Go rockin robin cuz we're really gonna rock tonight |
