Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:27 / 24.03.08
Oddly, I was thinking about that above, when you mention Brecht. Pirate Jenny is one of my favourite songs, and I'm still very jazzed and aroused thinking that one of my favourite songs sung by Nina Simone was written by Bertolt Brecht. When I found that out it was like someone had gone and retroactively altered history to make it that much cooler specifically for me.

Kind of like the Roald Dahl thing, actually.

I'm never going to be able to not think of Dahl with the Crypt Keeper's laugh, now. So thanks for that.

And I really like the idea that history is retroactively stitching itself together in better patterns to be cooler.

congratulations, it sounds like the best pan one could hope for.

It's silly of me to always start lateshift right before I'm at the point of no longer being able to stay awake, but I think that's what I've done yet again. Thesis will have to wait, bleh. You two have wonderful productive cat and wine-filled evenings, and I'll try to make it earlier next time!

oh, but wait I'm intrigued...what is this about roald dahl?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:36 / 24.03.08
Check the last page. Dahl hosted too separate horror anthology shows a few decades ago, called Way Out and Tales of the Unexpected. Very lurid, apparently.

Ooh, yeah. I remember finding one of his adult books--I think it was called Kiss Kiss--lying around when I was nine or so and assuming it was for me. I was quite traumatized.

grant's chocolate bunny bread in the egg thread looks delicious. I'll have to try that out tomorrow. And now I can't keep my eyes open one minute longer...goonite!!

This Sunday
04:42 / 24.03.08
I just scared myself. I thought for a moment Alfred Hitchcock was on the front of an Arby's bag, beside an I HEART PEPPER BACON slogan. He isn't hocking roast beef just yet; it was a xerox lying against the bag.

This Sunday
04:44 / 24.03.08
Night, Leigh.

I think some leftover mac and cheese is order, here. And, yes, maybe that whisky.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:47 / 24.03.08
WHY DON'T I HAVE BOOZE I CAN ACTUALLY DRINK?

I should go upstairs now, back to my apartment, make myself a late-night snack. And I should shower the cat hair off me. And then I should lateshift some more.

Hitchcock is coming to get you, Decadent. And he's going to make you eat.

This Sunday
05:15 / 24.03.08
Back, with a bowl of everything I ever dreamed could come of little pasta sleeves and a bunch off Monterey Jack stirred about a pot.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
05:21 / 24.03.08
Sounds good. I have no food or wine yet. I`m trying to decide what I can make for eats.

This Sunday
05:40 / 24.03.08
It's weird - I know it's a holiday and a relatively family-friendly one, so lots of people will be gathered and doing family-friendly things, but - it's really really astonishingly quiet tonight. Not even a dog or a bird or a car and the highway's only a couple blocks off from here.

I only notcied when the laundry stopped. I'm washing the sheets as tomorrow's night out will probably mean someone will need a place to crash, and I'd feel rude offering them a bed without clean sheets (especially since I put a BBQ sauce stain in the topsheet yesterday that makes it appear I gutted someone on the bed).

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
05:50 / 24.03.08
There was a ruckus of emergency sirens earlier, but it's quiet now-- other than the wind.

I made myself a small meal of sardines in mustard sauce on tortilla chips. It's...odd. I'm saving the eggs for the morning. Same with the cheese.

I didn't really connect with any of the holidays this week -- St Patrick's included -- but that isn't really odd for me. I don't really care too much about holidays.

This Sunday
06:08 / 24.03.08
Cheese omelette in the morning?

Other than Halloween, the holidays don't really seem worth putting effort into.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
06:18 / 24.03.08
More like a cheese scramble, since I'm terrible at omelettes.

I can barely be bothered with Halloween. And Christmas! Christmas makes my skin crawl.

This Sunday
06:29 / 24.03.08
I'm atrociously servile, after a fashion, and self-serving, so I enjoy Halloween because you get to praise kids a bunch and give them candy. And keep a ton of it for yourself under the pretense that you thought it'd all be gone. And dress up. And unabashedly enjoy everybody else dressing up.

Christmas is fine as a metaphor, as an actual marketing node and temporal entity, it's just a lot of hassle. Except for the fruitcake and candied orange peels.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
06:33 / 24.03.08
URGH. Fruitcake is evil. It's all about rumballs, darling. Rumballs.

This Sunday
06:40 / 24.03.08
Which I still haven't had! And still imagine to be like baseballs of rum cake or something.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
06:49 / 24.03.08
More like golf balls of rum sex.

This Sunday
07:00 / 24.03.08
I just had this fabulous vision of being this world's sorceror supreme, where I could just sit about and I turn my hand this way, and look! there is rum! Turn it like so; chocolate! And this: rumball!

In the meantime, Umar and Dormammu just conquered the planet and Clea cut up my drapes in a jealous fit. But, y'know, I turn my hands this way...

Hey everyone.

I was playing with dye and can't get it off my fingers.

I maying pladness at the moment...

This Sunday
01:28 / 25.03.08
Hi, everybody!

Whatcha dying, LN?

Liger Null
01:32 / 25.03.08
Just hanging out, what are you up to, Deca?

This Sunday
01:36 / 25.03.08
Eating chicken soup, pretending I'm not sick in bed, and trying to not think of an editorial botch that's gnawing away at my pretense of artistic integrity.

Oh, and The Simpsons is on.

Liger Null
01:38 / 25.03.08
Oh, I thought you asked what I was DOING! I need to get my eyes checked...

I was dying scraps of leather. The leathercraft guild had a guy demonstrating a new line of non-toxic dyes and finishes and I was playing around with different color combinations.

Liger Null
01:40 / 25.03.08
Well, at least the Simpsons are on.

This Sunday
01:53 / 25.03.08
It's a good ep, too, which I hadn't seen before. Moe and Maggie and some Godfather references.

Y'know, I'm beginning to think these lateshifts are going to be last functional part Barbelith.

Well, these and the barbannoy thread.

Liger Null
01:57 / 25.03.08
It's depressing, isn't it.

What will we do when Barbelith's gone?

Saint Keggers
02:02 / 25.03.08
What do we do? www.lateshift.com?

Liger Null
02:02 / 25.03.08
Hmmmmmm...

This Sunday

I think we've got some good mileage left, but I am curious whether there'll be a grand exodus to a new board for everything, or if it'll be a Great Fragmenting, with the magicky discussion going one place, the politics elsewhere, and the sex and body stuff finding a home of its own, et cet. The atmosphere of the entertainment sections of the 'lith have long seemed the most unique, the hardest to replicate or transfer; other boards just aren't nearly as sensible or polite about comics or movies, whereas a site to discuss politics that doesn't make me want to pull out my eyeballls would seem easier to find.

Saint Keggers
02:08 / 25.03.08
I want to see what Policy fragments out into.

This Sunday
02:09 / 25.03.08
Actually, www.lateshift.com might be the best route for most of what I love about the 'lith.
