So, as you may or may not know, at present admissions are basically me looking at the Barbelith applications inbox, passing people with credible credentials, requesting more from people without, exercising judgement on borderline cases. There have been various attempts to improve on or streamline this process, but I think that's about as good as it gets at this point. Since Barbelith is more likely to die by ice than fire, there may be a case for just setting up an autoreply letting people in. The security for this system is borked, but will probably never be unborked.
In terms of things about the technology that can be changed, there is... well, just me, really. If I am ill, or overworked, or driven to dark thoughts of ending it all by the latest horror, there's nothing currently in place. I thought it might be best to resolve that while there are known and trusted quantities around here.
So, would anyone like to start training up on how all this stuff functions, with an eye to doing/sharing admissions? Feel free to mention it here or by PM. Please don't be offended if you are passed over - it was good for the firstborn of the tribes of Israel, after all. |
