Hey all. To celebrate my 30th I'll be up in London from Friday 29th February to Sunday 2nd March.
On the Friday I'll be popping along to Treadwells for this:
29 February 2008 (Friday)
Archaeologies of Consciousness – Essays in Experimental Prehistory
Book Launch Event with Panel Discussion
Gyrus and Friends
Free, but booking required to be added to the guest list
7 – 9.30pm. Panel Discussion from 7.30 – 8.15pm.
Besides editing and publishing the acclaimed Towards 2012 and Dreamflesh Journal, Gyrus has been writing about sacred sites, prehistory, altered states and shamanism for over a decade. This is the first collection of his essays (with a foreword by the inimitable Julian Cope), ranging from idiosyncratic takes on English landscape goddesses to works engaged with the cutting edge of academic research into the significance of trance states in prehistoric rock art. Active magical engagement with sites, especially those around Avebury and Ilkley Moor, has formed an integral part of much of his research. Scholars keen to learn more about how personal experience can inform research, magicians concerned to infuse their speculation with academic rigour, anyone interested in open-minded approaches to prehistory… all are welcome!
And on the Saturday I'd like to find a place where I can have a drink with you lot. Preferably one where I won't get too cold when I go for a smoke. If there's any interesting events/gigs happening on the Saturday then we could switch to afternoon drinking. Any ideas for a venue?
Please come. |
