i know there are plenty of the english fellows on this site and i am headed back to albion soon and i was wondering if anyone had any tips on finding good "under-the-table" work while in London or around Kent for a fairly unskilled but amazing dude.

picking up the forks or napkins people drop? you'd have to bear with smelly feet, but...

Depends how horrible a job you are prepared to do and for how little money. I worked in a factory for a while a few years back, and one of the job agencies that sent people there was pretty damn dirty - basically most of the people had not had any checks done as to their legal status, and were definitely not legal.

I wouldn't honestly recommend going this way, since it envolves a really high level of exploitation, but it's really not hard to find short term under the table work asking round a few of the agencies that supply people to large factories. You'll find at least somewhere that will put you through on a wink.

I don't have any specific UK experience, but I doubt you'd have much trouble finding dishwashing work at cafes or checking the bulletin boards at backpacker hostels.

I'm not sure about Kent, but I know that in the southwest fruit picking during the summer is a popular choice for the document-challenged. You get to work outside in the sun and a bunch of fresh fruit, so you'll get nice and tanned and healthy (further marking you as an outsider in our pallid, sickly isle), though the money is predictably awful.

Cycle messenger if you are reasonably fit and prepared to deal with London traffic. And can get hold of a bike obviously.

Wouldn't you have to have paperwork for that? Just because otherwise quite easy to piss off with someone's vital or valuable package.
