This is shaping up to be one of the TV highlights of this year: Close plays a razor sharp corporate lawyer fighting a former CEO billionaire (Ted Danson) accused of insider trading to the detriment of thousands of his former employees. The private action follows a govermnet trial.
The moral lines are blurred early on, as Close rejects a 100m settlement from Danson at the start of the show. Meanwhile a law graduate headhunted by Close is warned by a rival firm that she will be endangered if she takes up the post. Despite realising early on that she has been manipulated into taking the job, the graduate (Rose Byrne) decides to play along.
After two episodes, it's incredibly difficult to determine exactly who is playing who. On early viewing the show appears to belong in the same league as Six Feet Under, albeit in a very different ay. |
