Flesh-eating bacteria thing + low immunity due to diabetes. He's had a huge amount of reconstructive surgery, was in coma for an age (and woke asking if there was new Adam Warren before asking how long he'd been out, of all things) and now he's nearly walking again, and so very close to being allowed to re-enter the outside world. Any day now.
They made him prove his competence by making him take a wheelchair down to a corner store, buy food, and then cook it, as part of being approved to leave. Which is something I'd never really have imagined they would need to make sure of, but I guess they have their reasons.
Really puts everything I complain about into sharp perspective. As in: I should just shut up, sometimes. |
