Is anyone else going to All Tomorrow's Parties this weekend? Myself and Durango are going, and I'm pretty sure I saw Mike Modular mention it somewhere in another thread, but are any other 'lithers also going to be there?

We could meet up and drink booze and stuff.

Yup, I'm going to that. Looking forward to the shorter journey to Camber, after much Minehead bus misery... Very, very annoyingly I don't think I can get out of work the following weekend, therefore missing the Explosions In The Sky curated one - which is fast becoming an amazing line-up...

Just got offered the last ticket for a chalet-place for the Pitchfork one. Is it REALLY REALLY worth the 150 quid? I've never been, but keep hearing people rave about it. Truth be told I haven't been to a proper sleep-over-in-a-pissed-on-and-slashed-to-pieces-tent festival since .... cocksmoking 1995.

The line up seems exponentially less worth it with each passing year, with the roster for the Explosions in the Sky weekend being a notable exception.

Well, yeah, the line-up does not have me doing doodoo in my pants. I'd be more interested in just going to gawk at the beards and hang out with my friends, soaking in that indie cool. No, seriously. But, I ask myself rhetorically, am I willing to spend 300-400 quid on that?

It's a lot of fun, generally, and all the better for being indoors, with a nice enough chalet to stumble home to and watch weird TV after the bands have finished.

I doubt I'd go to the Pitchfork weekend though, but it's just the bands on which prevents me (actually - fuck! I've just checked and now see that Harmonia are playing!!!). The two Nightmares I've been to have been some of the most fun I've had at a music festival, and again, largely because when it rains there is no wallowing in mud trying to keep a tent clean.

Yeah, I'll second that- when the line-up's good, it's well worth it. Definitely my favourite festival, but that may be because I'm getting a bit too old for all that camping malarkey.

The downside to the winter ones is that you don't meet as many random people as at a normal festival (unless, of course, you smoke). The summer ones don't really HAVE a downside.
